Renault Accelerates Electric Car Technology Strategy, Will Release 10 Cars
Renault's Plans for the Future of Electric Vehicles
More and more
manufacturers are starting to accelerate the technology strategy of electric
cars, one of which is Renault. In a presentation titled Renault eWays
Electropop, the French manufacturer announced its electrification plans.
Renault accelerates EV strategy, plans 10 new BEVs by 2025
The plan discusses battery development and Nickel, Manganese &Cobalt (NMC) which it claims will have competitive cost per kilometer. In addition, Renault also announced several partnerships to develop batteries, magnet-free e-motors, and even gigafactory in France. Not to forget Renault updated the development of two electric car platforms namely CMF-EV and CMF-BEV. Renault set a worldwide harmonised light vehicle test procedure (WLTP) CMF-EV of up to 580 kilometers.
Renault revives models of the past for an electric future
Then for
B-segment cars, cmf-bev platform is developed that is targeted to be able to
travel WLTP distances up to 400 kilometers. The most interesting in this
presentation is that Renault announced that it will release as many as 10 new
battery electric cars by 2025. The seven electric cars will be sold as Renault,
and the other three will be performance electric cars under the Alpine brand.
Renault plans to electrify two thirds of its cars by 2025
The first launch
is a Renault MeganE with a CMF-EV platform that will be coming from next year.
Then the iconic Renault 5 car will again launch with the CMF-BEV platform
electric car technology. In addition to the Renault 5, the Renault 4ever
concept car will also be turned into one of the newest Renault electric cars.
For the rest, Renault gives silhouettes of its newest electric cars, including those that will later be sold as Alpine. There are commercial cars, crossover SUVs, sports hatchbacks, and even the latest Alpine sports cars.
